Cambodia Gambling Dens
There is a fascinating story to the Cambodia gambling dens that reside just across the border from nearby Thailand, in which gambling den gambling is against the law. Eight gambling dens are based in a generally tiny space in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia gambling dens is in an excellent location, a three to four hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the two largest gaming centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a thriving business with Thai workers and guests from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very couple of Westerners. The amazing income accrued from the gambling halls ranges from $7.5 million to over 12.5 million dollars, and there are a couple of limitations constraints for gambling den ownership. Ownership is assumed to be largely Thai; although, funding sources are vague. The borders are officially open from 0900 to 1700, and even though visas are for all intents and purposes necessary to cross, there are means around this, as is correct of most border crossings.
The original Cambodia gambling dens premiered in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were required to close in 1998, leaving just 1 gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a stationary ship casino, contains one hundred and fifty one armed bandits and 60 gaming tables. The Naga gambling den is open 24 hours with forty two tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, four tables of chemin de fer, ten of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The initial gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in the late nineties and the Golden Crown soon followed. A total of 150 slot machines and 5 table games at the Golden Crown and 104 slot machines and sixty eight tables at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features 300 slot machine games and seventy tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slots and ninety six table games, including 87 baccarat chemin de fer (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slots and 66 of the familiar gaming tables, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the eight casinos in Poipet, again in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slots and 97 casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an international vacation and hotel compound that features a number of comforts accompanying the gambling den, which contains 10,000 square feet of 130 slots and 88 tables.
